Mediva Inc is a healthcare consulting and medical service operation company.
We are the consulting arm of Platanus Medical Corp., which has family doctor practices, home healthcare services, and health screening clinics in Tokyo and in Kanagawa, Japan.
Mediva and Platanus were founded in 2000, by Ms, Kanoko Oishi, an ex-McKinsey partner, her consultant colleagues and a group of physicians. Our founding members of physicians include Dr. Nomaguchi and Dr. Toya who currently manage the Platanus clinics, and Dr. Shinsuke and Shogo Kameda, the owners of the Kameda General Hospital. The Kameda General Hospital, located in Kamogawa City, Chiba, is one of the top private hospitals in Japan.
Our company name, “Mediva”, stands for “Medical Innovation and Value Added”. As in our name, our mission is to realize innovative, patient-centered medicine and care. We serve all fields within the healthcare domain, from early detection, prevention and lifestyle management, acute and chronic medical care, nursing care to palliative care.
One of the key characteristics of Mediva is that we are not only a healthcare consulting firm but is also a medical service operation company. We can provide our consulting services based on our expertise in hands-on medical service operations in successful clinical organizations and services. We work in various medical settings, such as in clinics to start up health screening services, and in hospitals to drive significant financial and operational improvements, as well as work with corporate health insurers to help decrease healthcare expenditure, and with the government, local authorities and private corporations to develop new healthcare and nursing services.
Mediva employs more than 100 people, and some are MDs, nurses, rehabilitation specialists, pharmacists and nutritionists. We work closely with clients to collaboratively solve their problems.
Recently we have expanded our business domains to the outside of Japan. In Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand, we have worked with local hospitals and corporations and managed healthcare projects. We are about to start projects in China, Russia, and the middle-east countries. In most projects, as well as local organizations, we have worked closely with Japanese organizations, such as the government, medical universities, hospitals and corporations, in order to bring in their resources to help the projects. Furthermore, we have collaborated with the Platanus clinics, as well as with the Kameda General Hospital, and utilized their high quality clinical expertise in the projects. In addition to exporting our healthcare services and systems, we are keen to learn the best practices from the world and apply them in the Japanese healthcare systems. One of our key clinical interests is home healthcare. We have visited US, UK, Holland and other European countries to learn how Japan can serve our ever growing elderly population better.
