MEDIVA was founded after our founder, Kanoko Oishi, became aware of the ‘small discomforts’ in Japan’s healthcare system through the experience of her son’s birth. These included referral letters that failed to carry over test data, long waiting times, and doctors who appeared unfriendly—all issues long accepted as “normal” but left unaddressed. Realizing that consulting alone could not bring about true change in healthcare, our founder felt a strong need to create a place for direct execution and verification. The name MEDIVA combines “Medical” and “Innovation,” reflecting the company’s mission to bring new value to healthcare.

Global Expansion from Japan

From its early days, MEDIVA collaborated with institutions such as Yoga Urban Clinic (now the Medical Corporation Platanus) and Kameda General Hospital, working together to develop pioneering systems such as group–based primary care and open–access medical records. Since then, our business has expanded to include hospital revitalization, M&A, the management of elderly facilities, the development of community–based integrated care systems, and even city planning. Today, MEDIVA works not only with hospitals but also with corporations, academic institutions, government agencies, and municipalities, extending our reach beyond Japan into the global healthcare field.

Connecting Japan and the World

MEDIVA is committed not only to exporting Japanese healthcare services abroad but also to learning from outstanding global examples and applying those lessons back into Japan’s healthcare system.

At its core, MEDIVA upholds three guiding principles:

  • Valuing patient perspectives and on–the–ground insights
  • Striving for innovation and the creation of new value that can influence policy
  • Treating employees and partners as colleagues united by a common mission.

Our Mission

  • Are we innovative?
  • Are we creating value for our patients and clients?
  • Do we excite the best people?
